MITCHELL, Mary 75, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 
29, 2005 in the Mercy St. John's Center after a brief battle with cancer. She 
was born on September 14, 1930 in Springfield the daughter of John H. and Mary 
(Baker) Errett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Mitchell in 
1988; they were married for thirty-nine years. She retired as the Head Cook of 
Northwestern High School in 1990. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-
law, Karen R. and Arthur Wooten, and son and daughter-in- law, Keith and Liz 
(Turnbull) Mitchell, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Katie and Jacob 
Mitchell and Kyle Wooten; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Eileen Rice, 
Norma Wade, and Helen and Bill Smith, all of Springfield; brother and sister-
in-law, Donald and Charlotte Errett, of Springfield; in-laws, Ralph and 
Virginia Mitchell, Marjorie Jefferies, and Joann Bishop, and several nieces 
and nephews. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers-
 in-law, Wilbur Rice, Edward Wade, and Malcolm Jefferies. A gathering of 
family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2005 from 5-7 pm in 
the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will be held on Friday at 1 
pm with Mr. Dale Holzbauer officiating. Burial will be in the Terre Haute 
Cemetery.
